Create something and destroy it
Create something and destroy it
Unforbidden pleasure no.70
A participatory performance installation by Eilit Marom/ Live music by Loek Vellekoop
Create something and destroy it is part the collection of unforbidden pleasures. They are the ordinary pleasures we experience in life, they are immediate, evoke joy and triggered by perceiving the environment around us. You can find them in simple actions, in being with others and in the “details”: moments and nuances that often happen spontaneously. What we experience as pleasurable is set by our personal history and yet, our understanding is not purely subjective, it is also constructed by society and the media. In a wide sense, pleasure has a spectrum and there could be things we enjoy that we are not aware of. Loek builds new instruments from found bike parts, embodying a childlike freedom of creation for creating. In this installation the performers and public join in the act of building up and demolishing of creative constructions from the displayed found materials of old bicycles.
